Backyard Ponds & Waterfalls

Water is life. There’s nothing like a water feature to turn your backyard into the most enjoyable place of your home. Whether you add a pond, waterfall, pondless waterfall or just a container water garden…there’s nothing like water to bring life to your yard.

Water features bring amazing sights and sounds to your landscape while keeping it low maintenance so you can spend more time enjoying your unique pond design.

Koi Ponds and Outdoor Fountains

BLC Yardworks is proud to offer a variety of water features to our customers. We use Aquascape products and construction methods to bring you the absolute best in water features, ponds and pondless waterfalls.

Ecosystem Koi ponds

What is an ecosystem koi pond? Ecosystem koi ponds can be easy to understand if you have a good grasp of what components go into a basic, functioning ecosystem. An ecosystem pond works with Mother Nature to provide food, shelter, and safety to the wildlife around it.

An ecosystem pond also provides you with an all-natural, low-maintenance piece of paradise. It’s important to remember, however, that every piece of the ecosystem puzzle must be present and properly installed by an expert in order for a true ecosystem to be in place. Skip one of these elements (or mismatch them) and you’ve got an unbalanced ecosystem that won’t be so low maintenance anymore.

Where do you put a koi pond?

Many gardeners design a koi pond as a focal feature of a garden, and they may include seating around the pond or garden paths, which all eventually lead to the koi pond. Some koi ponds come complete with little islands, bridges, and similar features, and the pond is often designed to encourage people to linger and contemplate the colorful fish. Gardeners who like to meditate may construct a meditation platform near a koi pond, so that they can relax and clear their minds to the sounds of splashing water.

Pondless Waterfall

A pondless stream or waterfall gives the natural beauty of moving water with almost no maintenance. If you want to add the relaxing sound of water to your yard and don’t want to worry about the fish or plant maintenance of a pond, then a pondless water features are for you!

Working much like a regular waterfall, the pondless variety directs the cascading water into a deep rock- and- gravel-filled hole where the water collects and is pumped back up to the top of the fall. Because there is no pool of water, a pondless waterfall is a great option if you’re concerned about safety issues associated with a traditional pond.

A pondless waterfall can be less costly than a pond to build and operate, and its size enables you to place one almost anywhere in your yard. And maintenance couldn’t be easier. All you need to do is fill the reservoir every few weeks to compensate for water loss caused by evaporation. Pondless waterfalls can also be part of a rainwater harvesting system.

Outdoor Fountain

Depending on space and style, there are lots of ways to get water in your garden. We design and install beautiful Fountainscapes that include urns, water walls, and spheres.

These larger landscape garden fountains, walls, and spheres are typically set atop an underground reservoir that keeps re-circulating the water. Once the urn fills with water, the water spills out and over into the underground basin, which pumps the water back up through the urn. Fountains come in a variety of sizes, shapes, and prices.
